Baclofen

Baclofen is mainly used to treat pain in muscles. Muscle pain along with stiffness with multiple Sclerosis. It further helps in the treatment of spasms and spinal cord disease. Baclofen is an antispasmodic agent and works as a muscle relaxer in patients. Baclofen can be taken directly in the spinal cord ( intrathecally) or orally.

Baclofen can be taken with or without food orally or as mentioned by the doctor. The drug should not be taken more than 3 times a day. The dosage can be increased or decreased as per requirement. The doctor might prescribe to go for low dosage in the beginning and keep on increasing gradually as per recommendation. In case you are taking Baclofen in liquid form, shake the bottle well before using. While measuring the medicine use a measuring spoon or device. Do not use household spoons which might lead to over or under dose. In case a person has overdosed, contact a doctor immediately. Like any other drug baclofen also shows some mild to serious side-effects. Some common side-effects of the medicine includes :-

• Drowsiness
• Weakness
• Trouble sleeping
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Increased urination
• Tiredness
